On Thursday, March 5th and Friday, March 6th, 2020 we spent the evening with Auctus Productions, a New York Film Production company founded in 2014 by students. The events, presented by UCI Illuminations and at UCLA, respectively, consisted of watching short documentaries and having illuminating discussions about film production, the inspiration behind each film, starting a business, and the lessons that the young entrepreneurs of Auctus learned along the way.
Thank you to everyone who came out to our completely sold-out film screening events on Thursday and Friday at UCLA and UCI.

In line with our mission to promote lifelong learning, Dialogue Society has launched an outreach program! We are taking the positive dialogue on the road to the senior community.
Daniel Goleman’s The Brain and Emotional Intelligence: New Insights is an expansion of the 1995 book written by him entitled Emotional Intelligence.
Although this book reviews some of the neurobiological components of emotional intelligence, its key message is a practical one.
Very Good Lives is the commencement speech given by J.K. Rowling— renowned author of the Harry Potter series—to Harvard University’s graduating class of 2008. Rowling decides to focus on two key points during the speech: the benefits of failure and the power of imagination.
“If you wait until the end of the month to save what you have left, there will be nothing left over. Likewise, if you wait until the end of the day to do meaningful but not urgent things like exercise, pray, read, ponder how to advance your career or grow your organization, or truly give your family your best, it probably won’t happen.”
This Tuesday, the UCLA members of Dialogue Society rounded up a cozy discussion on our two books of interest: Are You Really Listening? and Crucial Conversations. If you weren’t able to join us (and missed out on our plentiful snacks), here’s a recap of our discussion highlights.
